Texas Instruments Receives $1.6 Billion for Utah Plant 💰

The Biden administration has revealed a $1.6 billion investment in Texas Instruments to support new semiconductor manufacturing plants in Utah and Texas. This funding, provided through the CHIPS and Science Act, will bolster three fabrication sites, including a major new plant in Lehi. The investment is part of a broader effort to enhance U.S. semiconductor production, with projections to produce up to 28% of the world’s advanced logic chips by 2032. Texas Instruments is expected to create thousands of jobs and improve the domestic supply chain for crucial electronic components.

Back to School Bus Safety Tips 🚸

As the school year begins, it's crucial to follow safety rules around school buses. Always slow down and be alert for children crossing the street. Pay attention to bus lights: yellow flashing means the bus is preparing to stop, while red flashing lights and extended stop arms indicate that children are getting on or off the bus, and you must stop. On two-lane roads and roads with three or more lanes without a median, stop from either direction. For roads with a median, only stop if traveling in the same direction as the bus. Let’s ensure our roads are safe for kids this school year.

Heritage Day Honors Darren and Allison Paul 🌟

Darren and Allison Paul will be celebrated at Lehi Heritage Day on September 2nd for their extensive service to the community. Darren, Lehi's Chief of Police since 2014, has been a dedicated officer since 1994, earning accolades for his leadership and commitment. Allison, a lifelong Lehi resident, has contributed through various PTA roles and Church callings, alongside her work as a radiology tech. The ceremony will take place from 2:30 to 6:00 PM at the Legacy Center.

Mont and Vicki Peterson Honored for Decades of Service 🏆

Mont and Vicki Peterson will be recognized at Lehi Heritage Day on at the same event on September 2nd for their longstanding contributions to the Lehi Round-Up Rodeo and the community. From directing concession stands to supporting rodeo contestants, their dedication spans decades. Mont has served on the Planning and Zoning Commission and in various church roles, while Vicki has taught in local schools and served in church callings.

Alpine School District Approves Property Tax Increase 📈

The Alpine School District Board of Education has unanimously approved a property tax increase, raising the certified tax rate from .005715 to .00615. This adjustment will lead to an annual increase of about $108, or $9 per month, for homeowners with a median home value of $489,000. The additional revenue will fund class size reductions, paraprofessional support, and new facilities, including a planned $67 million high school in Saratoga Springs. Despite strong public opposition, the board emphasized the need for the increase to address operational costs and inflation.'

Applications Open for Lehi Youth Council 🌟
