PRESENTED BY KILN
After a recent trip to Europe, my wife noted the importance of third places in facilitating a vibrant sense of community. I had never heard the term. Third places refer to social environments outside of the home (first place) and the workplace (second place). Many sociologists agree that third places are anchors of community life and facilitate broader, more creative interaction - it's where you relax in public. Examples of third places are bookstores, libraries, cafés, gyms, parks, and even stoops.
Luckily, we have found such a third place at Kiln in Lehi!
Kiln is a flexible coworking space in the heart of Silicon Slopes - embedded at the center of Utah's tech ecosystem. Whether you are simply looking to host a one-time meeting/event or find a more permanent work environment for teams of 1-100, Kiln offers solutions to meet your needs.
With its extensive amenities, events, clubs, and experiences, we're confident that you'll find Kiln to be that third place you didn't know you were looking for!

Big Boy Steam Locomotive Visits Utah 🚂
The world's largest steam locomotive, Big Boy No. 4014, is making a stop in Utah as part of Union Pacific's Westward Bound Tour. The 1.1-million-pound engine will be at Morgan Depot on Thursday morning and at Salt Lake Central Station in the afternoon. It will also be on display in Ogden on July 20 and 21. This historic locomotive, restored for the 150th anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad, continues to captivate train enthusiasts. I may or may not have watched this 36-minute video about the engineering of steam locomotives as a result of this story…

DIGEST
Lehi PD Warns of Phone Scam Alert 📞
The Lehi Police Department is warning residents about a phone scam involving individuals pretending to be from the police department. Scammers are spoofing the department's phone number, claiming citizens missed a court date and owe a fine. The police assure that these calls are fraudulent. They advise hanging up and calling the department directly to verify any claims. This scam often targets the elderly, so please inform and protect your loved ones.
2300 West Roadway Improvement Project 🚧
Lehi's 2300 West roadway improvement project has started, aiming to expand the street from three to five lanes and connect the Waste Ditch Trail with a new pedestrian signal. Additional upgrades include curb, gutter, and sidewalk installations, enhanced ADA accessibility, and a HAWK beacon near North Point Elementary. Work begins on the northern part in 2024.
Alpine School District May Split 🏫
Keeping you up to date on this important story, Utah's largest school district, Alpine, might split through interlocal agreements, bypassing the need for a ballot measure. Voters will consider two proposals in November: one forming the Central School District with cities like Lehi and Highland, and another forming a third district with Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain. The split aims to provide better local control and address specific community needs.
Pleasant Grove officials prefer a two-way split proposal, while Vineyard stresses the need for a contingency plan. Residents in these cities may get to vote on the issue this fall.
Refer a friend, family member, or neighbor, and we’ll give you a shout out in the Lehi Loop closest to your birthday!
